The Northwest Arts Center opens the spring semester at Minot State with the newly renamed “INT’L Paperworks 2022” annual juried exhibition. The exhibition is on view January 13 to February 24 in the Walter Piehl Gallery.

From the first call for entries in 1969, the Paperworks competition has brought diverse artwork “on or of paper, traditional and experimental,” to the University campus and greater Minot community. This year’s exhibition features 46 artworks by artists from the United States, Australia and France.

Susanna Crum, Louisville, KY is the first juror of the newly rebranded INT’L Paperworks annual juried exhibition. Crum served as the President of the Mid America Print Council from 2018-2020 and currently teaches printmaking as an Associate Professor at Indiana University Southeast. She is also the Associate Director of Calliope Arts Printmaking Studio & Gallery, Louisville’s first shared printmaking workspace – a space she and fellow artist and partner Rodolfo Salgado Jr. started together.

A public reception and online viewing is scheduled for Friday, February 4 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Both exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Please see the reception event or NAC website for more details. Masks are not required, but individuals who are not fully vaccinated or deemed vulnerable are encouraged to continue to wear masks.

The Walter Piehl Gallery is located in the Northwest Arts Center on the lower level of the Gordon B. Olson Library, with its own entrance on the south side of the library. It is open TWThF, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 1-5 p.m. and by special arrangement. It is closed holidays.

This project is supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
