World Fest! Okaidja Afroso – Artist Workshop

Okaidja Afroso will be the first Arts Midwest World Fest artist to be joining us in Minot from October 9th – 15th, 2022 and will be providing an all-ages Artist Workshop in the Community Room at Roosevelt Park Zoo on Saturday, October 15th!
Okaidja was born into a family of musicians and storytellers in the village of Kokrobite on the west coast of Ghana. He began his career as a dancer with the celebrated Ghana Dance Ensemble. As he toured internationally, Okaidja expanded his artistic reach becoming a master multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and arranger. Okaidja’s music tells the story of his people, infusing the Ghuanaian roots of the culture that he was raised in with an exploration of the African Diaspora, incorporating elements of North American folk and blues genres.
