MSU Summer Theatre is Wrapping Up Season 56!

MSU Summer Theatre is wrapping up Season 56 with an energetic musical! Dolly Parton’s famous movie has now been turned into a toe-tapping, laugh-inducing, heart-warming show 9 to 5 The Musical, directed by Chad Gifford. Chad is the Artistic Director for MSU Summer Theatre.

“I chose to direct this musical because we have so many talented women performers and this show really showcases them.  It also has some great lessons about finding your voice and lifting each other up to find success,” Gifford explained.

9 to 5 follows a trio of working women pushed to the limit by an overbearing boss until they do something unthinkable. The show is outrageous, hilarious, and maybe even a bit romantic. The show contains some adult themes and language and parental guidance is recommended. Opening night is on July 21st. Shows will run from July 21st-July 26th and July 28th-July 31st. All performances begin at 8:30pm.

After a virtual showcase for Season 55, it has been exciting to see the amphitheatre full again this season, and Season 56 had tremendous success with their first two shows, Willy Wonka and The Game’s Afoot (featured in the images you see here). You won’t want to miss out on the final show of Season 56!

If you found yourself singing songs from the first show of Season 56, Willy Wonka, wait until you come see 9 to 5.

“The show features music written by Dolly Parton just for the musical as well as the iconic “9 to 5” song. You might not know the songs before the show, but you’ll be humming them when you leave,” Gifford said.

The final show of the season will feature well known Summer Theatre cast members as well as some new additions.

“Long time fans of Summer Theatre will see familiar faces like Peg Morris, Claire Romich, Jared Kolles, Christian Gifford, and Ryan Haider.  The show also features some of our newcomers like Katherine Ware and Joh’El Rodriguez,” Gifford said.
