Governor's Award
2021 is really shaping up to be quite a year for us here at the Minot Area Council of the Arts! We unveiled an all new logo, this great new redesigned website, and announced our very own grants that we are giving back to our terrific members. Whew, that’s a lot to go through in just the first month of the year!
With all of this going on, and even more to come, it was an incredible honor to find out that we were going to be receiving an award. Every two years the North Dakota Council on the Arts along with the North Dakota Governor’s office present the Governor’s Awards for the Arts in five categories: Private Business, Individual Cultural Heritage Award, Arts in Education, Individual Achievement, and Arts Organization. A state-wide call for nominations went out last fall, and the NDCA gathered up all the nominations to present to the Governor who chooses the award winners. It was a thrill to find out that Governor Burgum chose the Minot Area Council of the Arts as the Arts Organization recipient of the 2021 Governor’s Awards for the Arts. The ceremony, held virtually this year, took place on Wednesday night, February 3rd. It was so humbling to be among the recipients in the other categories who have done incredible work throughout the state, and to be chosen as this year’s recipient in our category. The arts organizations across this state do amazing things, and to be recognized among them really was wonderful. The Minot area is incredibly fortunate to have a truly impressive arts community, offering so much for us all to take part in. This award would not have been possible for us if it wasn’t for the contributions of this community. Thank you all for your artistic talents, your patronage to arts events, and your support throughout the years.

2021 is going to be good you guys; Let’s Go!
