Oh, It’s A Holiday Thing!
Join us for the Northwest Arts Center’s first-ever holiday social and art auction on Saturday, December 18.
Put on your finest holiday attire to enjoy an exciting night commemorating our last two exhibitions of the year, an event filled with great food, excellent company, delightful music and a chance to bid on some magnificent art…Oh, It’s a Holiday Thing!
Silent auction bidding opens early at 1:00 p.m. and ends at 7:30 pm. It features artwork from local artists, Minot State University faculty and student artists. With a variety of mediums and styles, you are sure to find that elusive perfect gift! There will be prints, paintings, photographs, ceramics, posters from Minot State’s Annual NOTSTOCK Arts Festival and much more! All auction artwork will be listed on the Northwest Arts Center’s website starting on December 13.
Bring your friends and family, the fun starts at 6 p.m. The social opens with drinks provided by Minot’s own Blue Rider Bar, accompanied by a delicious selection of refreshments and hors d’oeuvres. Listen to selections on Cello, performed by Erik Anderson, during the first part of the night. Take in your final viewing of ‘Book of Days: Reflections on Time and Water’ by Susana Amundaraín and ‘Father & Son: The Beast Within Us’ by Paul and Dakota Noot with a stroll through the galleries.

NORTHWEST ARTS CENTER
The Northwest Arts Center is a non-profit arts center operating on the campus of Minot State University. The Center houses the Walter Piehl Gallery, a public reception area, and climate-controlled collections storage and display for Minot State University’s Permanent Art Collection and Native American Collections. Over the years the Center has enriched the artistic life of northwest North Dakota with year-round art exhibitions, a performing arts series, a public lecture series, and numerous workshops and artists-in-residence activities.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Northwest Arts Center is located at Minot State University, 500 University Ave. W, Minot, ND, 58707. The Walter Piehl Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10-5 p.m., Thursday 10-8 p.m., Saturday 1-5 p.m. and by appointment. Gallery entrance and parking are on the south side of the Gordon B. Olson Library. A visitor parking permit is available on request at the gallery office. Exhibitions, receptions and other programming are free and open to the public.

And don’t forget the raffle drawing! Be sure to purchase a ticket before 7:30 p.m. on December 18 for your chance to win a signed poster from the Walter Piehl Retrospective exhibition, Walter Piehl’s “Eager Beaver” fine art lithograph printed by Flat Tail Press, or Susana Amundaraín’s mixed media on canvas painting, “Moon Petals.” Tickets will be available at the Northwest Arts Center, The Blue Rider Bar, Artmain, and the Taube Museum of Art.
Live auction begins at 8:00 pm and features work by Walter Piehl and Susana Amundaraín. Get your bidding cards ready for a chance to own a painting from these two renowned artists.
Stay out of the cold and spend an evening with art, friends, great music, good food and drink! You won’t want to miss the Northwest Arts Center’s ‘Oh, It’s a Holiday Thing!’
Proceeds will go to support the Northwest Arts Center and participating artists. Admission is free and all are invited to attend. Masks are not required, but individuals who are not fully vaccinated or deemed vulnerable are encouraged to wear masks.
While at the Northwest Arts Center, the exhibitions will be available for viewing Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 1-5 p.m. It is closed holidays. The Walter Piehl Gallery is located on the lower level of the Gordon B. Olson Library at Minot State University, with its own entrance on the south side of the library. The exhibitions and related events are free and open to the public.
